Come join us at the Woodland Farmers Market!
2024 will be our 28th year of serving the community. We are thankful that our community has supported the market for the past 27 years and we are thrilled to continue promoting community development and health. The Woodland Farmers Marker is excited to announce that we will now be holding both our Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoon markets at the same location for 2024! Located on First Street across from the Woodland Public Library we can offer better parking and more kid’s activities in partnership with the library.

Tuesday market

In 1995, a serendipitous meeting between two small family farmers sparked the beginning of The Woodland Farmer’s Market. Rural Woodland residents Sonia and Daniel Mora had been looking for a local outlet for the beautiful produce from their farm when they met Ed and Janet Eckhoff who were looking for something similar. Both couples had seen farmers markets in surrounding cities and noticed that Woodland didn’t have one of its own.
So in 1996, the Mora’s and the Eckhoff’s began offering a weekly summer season farmers market where Woodland residents could have easy access to fresh local produce. The Woodland Farmers Market has been offering quality goods at reasonable prices in a fun, festive atmosphere. “I love talking to people at the market” says co-founder Sonia Mora, “We often share recipes and it’s wonderful to hear how much someone liked something as they come back week after week!”
The Woodland Farmers Market began in the parking lot of the County Fair Mall. After 11 years at the County Fair Mall, it was time to move the market to Downtown Woodland! With a few years spent at Freeman Park on Main Street, then at the Heritage Plaza area next to the Opera House and on Main Street, we have found our permanent home on First Street in front of the Library.
In 2011, the Woodland Farmers Market split the location of the Tuesday and Saturday markets to better serve our Community. The Saturday market remained in the Downtown Woodland area (on First Street) and the Tuesday market was moved to Dignity Health at Woodland Memorial Hospital. With the continued support of Dignity Health, our Tuesday market has grown into a fun evening market with live music, kids activities, prepared food and of course the freshest produce in town! The partnership with Dignity Health allows our community members access to nutritional information and free blood pressure screenings each week.
In October of 2012, The Woodland Farmers Market became a 501C3 non profit organization. Our local market, although seasonal, features only the highest quality, locally grown produce grown with 100 miles of Woodland. In addition to gorgeous fruits and vegetables, the market offers fresh eggs, artisan breads, handcrafts, fresh fish, entertainment and more. All items are reasonably priced and in many cases, offer shoppers big savings and of course you cannot beat the taste of the fruits and vegetables
The Woodland Farmers Market accepts Farmers Market WIC vouchers and CalFreshEBTcards. The Woodland Farmers Market customers can also use their credit or debit cards at the information booth to purchase “market bucks” to spend at any vendor booth! No need to go to the ATM before heading to the market.
The Woodland Farmer’s Market is the hub of community where you can meet new friends, say hello to old ones, and take part in fun activities for the whole family. The Saturday Woodland Farmers Market operates from the middle of May to September and sometimes to October if Mother Nature is cooperative and the Woodland Farmers Market at Woodland Healthcare is open from the first Tuesday in June to the end of August. Don’t miss out on the fun and come support your local farmers.
